Usually the mantle top is left uncovered. Highlight the mantle by placing a table mat in one corner. Placing wired vase in that corner can be made as the focal point for mantle decoration. Arrange different candle holders so that the wick appears to slope downwards. Place the candy cane in the wired bulb candle holder, stuff the white and red peppermint balls in a transparent glass and place the marshmallows in the wired tissue holder.

You may also like the idea of using the leftover balls and decorations. To give it a dramatic effect, fill these in transparent vases or containers of different shapes. Fill the colorful stuff in various color combinations and different heights, which you can effectively place with the candle holders.

Wall displays

The wall behind the mantle can be decorated with frames grouped together. Form a collage of frames with a watch and put fun family pictures in the red and white theme if possible. It is a good idea to place a big mirror that will make the room look bigger as well as stylishly reflect the image of all that is placed on the mantle. For a festive look, place reindeer figurines on the edge of the mantle and hang the stocking on the edge.

With so many guests and family coming over, it is a good idea to place wall hooks for them to hang the hats, coats or scarves. This can be placed on the wall along the entrance or in the patio. Remember to decorate the patio too with planter and hanging lights and decorations.

The dining table can be decorated with festive table runners or place mats.
